Senator Chuck Schumer decided that enough is enough with airlines continually shrinking their seats and reducing leg room for fliers. In the interest of passengers’ comfort, safety and health, the bill would require airlines to include information about the carrier’s seat measurements and leg room to allow consumers to make an informed decision. Unfortunately the bill was rejected. Airlines accused the bill of being an attempt to re-regulate the sector, which has been deregulated since 1978 and has seen the introduction of many new airlines since. Frontier and Spirit seats are the worst rated, with only 28 inches of leg room in economy.
