Airlines across the world have added fees for everything from onboard snacks to carry-on luggage.  To make it worse, British Airways, American Airlines and their partners have added an additional baggage fee for certain connecting flights.

For passengers who booked their tickets through the airline’s website or a search engine like Orbitz where a connecting flight is part of a single ticket purchase, you’re free of this fee.  However, if you booked two separate tickets with the same airline, you might incur the additional baggage fee.  If you fall into this category, you might also be required to leave the terminal, collect your luggage, check it and go through security again.
